Hello, my fellow cosmic adventurers, and welcome to another exciting round of “what the heck the skies are telling us about what this month will bring!” February – and let’s be honest, all of Aquarius season – turned our lives into a laboratory. With a high concentration of planets traversing the experimentally rich sector of Aquarius, many of us – if not the majority – are navigating new, uncharted terrain armed with fresh ideas, perspectives, and a newfound appreciation for liberation and distance.
The science-guy feel doesn’t immediately dissipate as Aquarius season gives way to Pisces season. However, there’s certainly plenty of prompting for us to surrender to currents, invite empathy and compassion into our observations, and embrace more flow in our evolutionary processes. As we enter March, a diverse array of planets are pooling in the open waters of Pisces, including mystical Neptune, CEO Saturn, the Messenger Mercury, and of course, the Hero we all know as the Sun. And let’s not forget that March brings us the first eclipse cycle of the year!
Don't forget to scroll to the end to catch the monthly horoscope for each sign!
Pisces Season
Before we jump straight into the astrological match ups for the month, let’s touch base quickly on the general overtones of Pisces season, as the themes of Pisces season will be the prevailing energy for a good portion of the month. While the Sun - and other planets, too - travels through the vast and boundless ocean of Pisces, we may notice that intuition, compassion, forgiveness, unity, and spiritual growth may become the spotlighted focus for many of us.
Emotions are heightened and highly sensitized, so if you find yourself brought to tears from anything ranging from a cute kitten video to a Pixar movie to even the general plight of suffering the human collective presently endures, then fret not - you’re not suddenly “soft,” but rather tuning in to the subtle realms of energy that transcend our boundaries of individualism.
Some of us may find ourselves naturally inclined toward more introspection, more willing than usual to engage with the depths of our souls and spirit, and willing to delve deeper into the mystical dimensions of existence. Others may find that a special attention may fall upon our suffering, our sacrifices, and may slip into imaginings or fantasies that offer something more than our present experiences.
If you find yourself in the latter category, be mindful of escapism and attaching too much of yourself to ideas of potential. Give yourself permission to dream, but remember that our realities as we are able to create and embrace it depends on our abilities to take action on our visions. Extend ample kindness to yourself and others, and let your intuition guide you to unimaginable creative potential.
Sun in Pisces sextile Jupiter in Taurus
Okay, now that we have the stage for most of March set, let’s talk about some of these planetary configurations and what we can expect from them. The first move of the month happens on March 1st, when the Sun in Pisces, Underdog Hero, makes a sweet, supportive sextile to Jupiter in Taurus, the Generous Settler. This kindly configuration creates a ripe atmosphere for fertile opportunities, grounded abundance, and undisputable growth. There’s an air of practical optimism and compassionate stability that signals to us that our consciously surrendering to our intuitive notions can foster material success as we explore the foundations of our beliefs.
This really is serving up “if you can dream and believe it, faith will stabilize it.” The trick with the sextile is to show up for the opportunity. It’s up to us to take some action and seize a chance for growth when it’s presented to us. This energy is great for tapping into our intuition and trusting in the universe's abundance, particularly in practical matters such as finances and resources. It's a time for expanding our horizons, both spiritually and materially, as we seek to align our dreams and ideals with tangible actions and resources. Embrace the blessings coming through presently, no matter how big or small they may seem, because odds are they’re culminating in our favor.
Venus in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus
However, a couple days later, on March 3rd, the sense of serenity and contentment may waiver when Distant Lover, Venus in Aquarius, makes a disruptive square to Earthquaker, Uranus in Taurus. This shift of energy may shake up and create some unexpected friction in the fabrics of our relationships, resources, and attachments to our comforts or security. Surprising interactions may pop a gear out of place, challenging us to embody a different perspective on our seemingly stable relationships. This configuration dares us to fight for unconventional notions of love, beauty, and security, and to embrace the discomfort of the weird.
We may have to confront issues revolving around comfort and commitment that may threaten our independence. Relationships to art, resources (including money, honey!), and partnerships may hit a bumpy spot, but those bumps may be just what the doctor ordered when it comes to helping us break free and liberate ourselves from outdated relational or attachment patterns regarding our comforts. Just because something may feel cozy doesn’t mean it’s helpful. The best way to ride this wave is to experiment with new ways of expressing love and engagement, while embracing the unexpected and allowing it to inform our revolutionizing approach toward security rather than unhinge it.
Mercury in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus
The following day, on March 4th, some of the bumps and bruises may have an opportunity to smooth out when Mercury, the cosmic communications specialist, takes a moment to listen to what rebel Uranus is trying to say. When Mercury in Pisces sextiles Uranus in Taurus, we’re granted a chance to ignite our improvisational and creative inklings in ways that produce productive, and even pleasantly surprising, ideas. Ingenuity, inspiration, and thinking outside the box will help us to embrace unconventional solutions to the disruptions that may be cropping up in our relationships or with our resources.
Don’t skip out on a chance to pick the brain of an unlikely ally or listen compassionately to insights of folks who may hold different perspectives. While this energy is generally flowing and harmonious, remember, sextiles represent opportunities through efforts that help us to enhance our efforts through learning or exchanging. Intuitive insights, sudden sparks of inspiration, and ah-ha moments may be on the docket, but it’s up to you to do something with what breaks through the ether!
Mercury conjunct Neptune in Pisces
The following week we have quite the array of planetary meetings happening in quick succession. Mercury and Neptune kick us off on March 8th, teaming up for a conjunction to blur lines, dissolve facts, and crank the ‘intuitive messaging’ dial up past MAX. Conversations, communications, and details will take on an undeniably dreamy and fantastical energy, challenging us to just try and figure out the differences between what’s real and what’s imagined. The range of manifestation on this particular brand of connection between the planets can go anywhere from deeply enriching spiritual acknowledgments to boundless levels of cognitive creativity to even getting lost in the haze of our own illusions and suffering.
It’s essential to keep in mind while we wade through these somehow-dazzling-somehow-murky waters that not everything may be as it seems - for good or for ill. Mercury conjunct Neptune is a little bit like a microscopic Mercury retrograde type of energy. Confusion, misunderstandings, and a dissolution of mental or communication boundaries are common features of this energy, just as much as empathetic communication and poetic reasoning. Grant yourself permission to daydream and engage with your imaginative faculties, but let’s be real here (ironically!)- this energy is not the most favorable for executing detailed or highly structured tasks, or even making real world decisions. My recommendation for this brief glimmer of time is to get curious about the potentials and possibilities of what can go right, because if we envision it now, we can actualize it later.
Sun in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus
The following day, March 9th, we get a double dose of Uranus action. You may have noticed, but Uranus, currently located in the open pastures of Taurus, is a hot spot, especially early in the month. The Sun in Pisces will open the floodgates to entertain some fresh view points when it makes a sextile to Uranus. This learning opportunity continues to invite fresh perspectives and innovation that encourage the demonstration of kindness, empathy, and forgiveness. Again we are prompted to embrace our unique assets and allow our creative, intuitive Selves to lead us toward unconventional solutions that may require transcending rules rather than breaking them. There’s support flowing from unpredictable, maybe even strange, sources, but nevertheless, the unconventional stability that’s offered may be exactly what helps you shine ever brighter.
Mars in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus
On the same day, Mars in Aquarius will make a stand for immediate progress over steady change, when it moves to make a tough square with Uranus. Given the other energy presently going on, I recommend a balance of caution and optimism. Remember, things may still not be quite as they appear, and there’s a good chance some things are potentially too good to be true. When you factor in Mars’ square to Uranus, there’s definitely sparks of electricity flying toward some kind of change, innovation, or breakthrough. The catch with this configuration is that whatever this opportunity is, may invigorate a feeling of force or fight from you. It may feel like you need to act NOW on something without having all the details. Remember, what’s meant for you will never pass you by.
This aspect could come through as a great deal of passion, excitement, and fervor to break away from stagnancy, which truly, we love. However, it may come with a cost if you act too swiftly. Volatility, chaos, and unpleasant disruptions are a cornerstone of this energy, and we may find ourselves in a challenging situation to assert ourselves against what threatens our liberty. Being that this is happening tied up with the presentation of potentially sparkling splendors, I’d air on the side of caution. Embrace the innovation and revolutionary spirit that comes along with this period, however, again I invite you to exercise patience to avoid the impulsive, reckless pulse that comes with it. When the dust clears you’ll have a better idea of what you’re dealing with.
New Moon in Pisces
March 10th also is an eventful day, as it comes harboring the first lunation of the month, the New Moon in Pisces, as well as the Messenger Mercury’s move into the soon-to-be hot spot of Aries, sparking up an immediate and informative conversation with Pluto in Aquarius.
First let’s chat a little about the New Moon in Pisces. New Moons are always a time of fresh starts, planting seeds for what will unfurl over the next six months! The New Moon in Pisces will have us watering those seeds with a healthy dose of introspection, spiritual renewal, and emotional healing. Once again the themes of surrender sprout up, as this lunation beckons us to immerse ourselves in the boundless, overlapping flows and currents of our lives. This is a wonderful time to dive into the depths of your subconscious, set intentions to invite in imagination and creativity, or to engage in enriching spiritual practices that help you feel united with the universal intelligence that flows through us all.
This new moon is essentially holding hands with dreamy, mystical Neptune, so expect intuition to be strongly amplified during this lunation. Remain open to receiving messages or signs that may seem as though they come beyond the veil, because they just might be. Additionally, the new moon is going to be sextile Uranus in Taurus, we may be in for some surprising treats that invigorate our palette with scrumptious breakthroughs to unfold over the next 6 months. Overall, this New Moon has a magical flavor to it, contributing to the general dreaminess of the current week. Remember, Mars is still in tight conversation with Uranus as well, so once again I encourage you to move in flow, consult your intuition, and don’t jump too fast without checking in with yourself thoroughly first!
Mercury enters Aries & sextiles Pluto in Aquarius
On the same day, Cosmic Connector Mercury departs from the glimmering waters of Pisces and cannonballs straight into the sign of Aries, soon to be an extremely active and red hot area of all our lives. You may find that communications, conversations, and general messaging takes a hard turn toward becoming more bright, assertive, and direct.
All those ideas, possibilities, and potentials that the heavy Pisces energy has brought us is ready to be ignited and vitalized in the fiery, action based sign of Aries. While Mercury is in Aries, quick thinking, initiating contact, and bold ideas take the forefront. This is an excellent time to speak up for yourself, share your passions, and to use your cleverness to cut through competition. I will hedge, however, that while Mercury is in Aries - which will be quite a while as it will retrograde in April - we want to be extremely mindful of impatience, impulsiveness, and a tendency to move too quickly from one idea to the next without thoroughly checking our details.
Mercury will immediately initiate an important conversation right away, as it will sextile Pluto in Aquarius as soon as it enters the sign of Aries. There’s a powerful synergy between our ability to assert our thoughts and the profound insight we gain from doing so. Expect some deep, intellectual information to be extracted, perhaps through some welcome but penetrating analysis. After the murkiness of swimming deep in the depths of Pisces season, I expect this contact will help us to uncover hidden truths and gain clarity on intricate issues of liberation and independence in significant ways. It's a favorable time for lively research, insightful investigation, and active problem-solving, as we are driven to dig beneath the surface and explore the depths of our thoughts and ideas.
Venus enters Pisces
A couple days later, on March 12th, lovely and charming Venus slips into Pisces, filling the open position that Mercury left days before. While taking a swim in the coral reefs of Pisces, Venus, planet of harmony, comfort, and attachment , will douse our partnerships and resources with a bit of her favorite love potion. Venus loves being in Pisces, heightening our capacity for unconditional love, unity, compassion, and selflessness. We may find that our inner artist soars to unimaginable heights, or that the important connections in our lives are somehow more fluid, smooth, and empathic.
While in Pisces, Venus invites us to dissolve boundaries and to engage with one another on a soul level, melding with each other at the core of our spirits. However, even the most beautiful rose colored glasses should come with a warning: Venus in Pisces can sometimes lead us into the subliminal spaces of escapism, illusion, or fantasy. Not the worst place to be if you can keep your wits about you, however, I recommend staying grounded and centered while also allowing yourself to embrace the magic and beauty that Venus in Pisces can inspire in our hearts.
Sun conjunct Neptune in Pisces
We finally catch a breather for a few days after the action-packed second week of March, but the boundaries begin to blur once again on March 17th, when the Sun in Pisces embraces Neptune in Pisces. The conjunction between the Sun and Neptune tends to be an extremely fuzzy moment, ripe with uninhibited potentials and possibilities. Neptune is known to be a planet that dissolves all it touches, so when the Sun shows up for intimate one on one, you can rest assured that boundaries are not in play.
This can be a great channel for energy if used properly, IE spiritual illumination, boundless imagination, or spreading love, compassion, and kindness. However, this energy is also very prone to disillusionment, confusion, and general (though again, dazzling) fogginess. Details are not the strong suit of this energy, however, grand visions seem to thrive here. There is something undeniably magic churning around us all throughout March, but it seems that the conjunct of the Sun and Neptune really highlights all the shimmer and glimmer of what we’re looking to transcend, both personally and collectively.
One last note on this energy before we move along: both Neptune and Pisces are energies that can represent escapism, addiction, and altered states of consciousness. This is something we really want to be mindful of all of Pisces season, but especially on March 17th, as that happens to be St. Patrick’s Day - a holiday primarily celebrated by drinking alcohol. Moderation and limits are known weaknesses of the Sun/Neptune conjunction, so please, please, be mindful of this blurry, disorienting, deceptive energy if you choose to participate in St. Patrick’s Day festivities, as we don’t want our dreams to dissolve into nightmares based on unclear decisions. Have a plan and stay grounded in showing compassion to yourself and others!
Sun enters Aries & sextile Pluto in Aquarius
March 20th is a big day as our Cosmic Hero, the Sun, enters Aries, racing to the starting line of the Spring Equinox. This is big news, as (again) Aries is absolutely one of the hottest spots of the year, and the Sun arriving on the scene really sets the stage of what’s to come for us in April. Once the Sun enters Aries, expect a surge of vitality, assertiveness, excitement, and energy as the spotlights of our lives pivots toward what makes us feel alive! The pioneering spirit is living, breathing, and spurning us all toward more dynamic displays of individuality and authenticity. During Aries season, we are encouraged to take bold initiatives, assert our passions and drives, and pursue our goals with fresh bursts of bravery.
While the Sun fearlessly breaks ground in Aries, we’re all invited to seize opportunities that feel more aligned with ourselves, get adventurous about our presence in the world, and embark on new beginnings that spurn our confidence and determination. However, let’s all be mindful that with this fiery zest for life comes a stronger inclination to fight, compete, and react to whatever feels like a threat to the survival of our passions. Keep your impulses in check and this energy can be incredible for making movements in powerful new directions.
But that’s not all, friends, because, just like when Mercury entered Aries, the Sun will make an immediate sextile to Pluto in Aquarius. This configuration encourages us to take decisive action towards our goals, fueled by a sense of empowerment and determination. It's a time for personal growth, shedding old patterns, and embracing change on a profound level. The sextile aspect between the Sun and Pluto facilitates opportunities for positive transformation and empowerment, as we tap into our inner strength and resilience. This informative connection invites us to embrace our personal power, confront challenges with confidence, and embrace the potential for renewal and rebirth in our lives, really setting the stage for what’s to come throughout Aries season.
Venus conjunct Saturn in Pisces
The following day, March 21st, our mystic beauty Venus in Pisces will grasp hands with interstellar Tough Guy, Saturn in Pisces, pushing beautiful flowers into its hands and adorning it with a wreath of daisies. I think this is good news for our relationships, even if it may feel a little limiting in some ways at first. Venus in Pisces is primed to help us sprinkle some peace and love into the responsibilities, goals, and systems in our lives. It’s serving up some magical realism that errs more on the side of magic and real.
This is a great configuration to help us get serious about the relationships that are helping us to transcend our old blockages or obstacles, or to become more disciplined in our boundless artistic potentials. We’re invited to take a mature and realistic approach to our relationships with other people as well as our own resources, while maintaining a sense of compassion, empathy, and sensitivity. It's essential to approach this conjunction with patience, perseverance, and a willingness to confront any obstacles that arise, knowing that the rewards of enduring love, enduring beauty, and lasting achievement await on the other side.
Mars enters Pisces
The next day, March 22nd, the Pisces sails continue to blow and transport us when Cosmic Commander Mars dips into fish’s sign as well. The energy of assertiveness and initiation becomes infused with the classic Pisces themes of sensitivity, empathy, and boundless imagination. We may begin pursuing our goals and taking actions that inspire a sense of idealism and compassion, perhaps being prompted to serve and uplift others in starting projects nurtured by unity.
This position encourages us to trust our intuitive actions and impulses, go wherever our dreams may lead us, and activate our courage while navigating subtle, hard to define spaces. However, there can also be a tendency towards passive-aggressiveness or escapism, as we may struggle to assert ourselves directly or confront challenges head-on. It's essential to harness the creative and intuitive energy of Mars in Pisces, channeling it into productive outlets such as art, music, or spiritual practices.
Venus in Pisces sextile Jupiter in Taurus
On March 24th, we have an absolutely wonderful powwow between the two biggest celestial Donors, when Venus in Pisces sextiles Jupiter in Taurus. What a wonderful moment! This contact between pleasure seeking Venus and generous Jupiter creates a harmonious and expansive energy that emphasizes love, abundance, and creativity!
We are encouraged to embrace the beauty and magic of life, finding joy and fulfillment in simple pleasures and meaningful connections. It's a wonderful time for indulging in acts of kindness, expressing gratitude, and cultivating a sense of abundance in our lives. This cosmic meet up also supports artistic inspiration, spiritual growth, and financial prosperity, as we tap into our intuition and trust in the universe's abundant blessings. Don’t miss this stunning opportunity to connect with loved ones or create something meaningful and soothing from the pure foundations of your inner truth.
Lunar Eclipse in Libra
Okay folks, we’re almost to the end of the line for March, but don’t check out just yet because on March 25th, the 2024 Eclipse Season begins with the Lunar Eclipse in Libra. This is a big deal my friends, as all eclipses are, but especially because this is the first eclipse of the year, setting the stage for the next couple of weeks where we will be in very deep eclipse territory. Before we begin unpacking a bit about this lunar eclipse, I just want to remind you all how very important eclipses are in the unfolding collective (and individual) story lines of our lives.
Eclipses occur in a pair of signs around eight times over the course of 2ish years. They bring with them enormous ending and beginning cycles, changes, and massive transformations. This eclipse is the midpoint in the Aries/Libra eclipse series that’s been unfolding since April of 2023. That means the major themes of these transitions have been all about developing a stronger sense of autonomy and independence, while at the same time releasing people pleasing and indecision in big ways. The Lunar Eclipse in Libra picks up where the story left off, 6 months ago in September, and opens the scene for the next stage of development and release to occur.
This eclipse takes the place of the Full Moon in Libra, and invites us to reflect in pivotal ways on the balance between our personal needs and the needs of others, as well as the dynamics within our partnerships. Remember, over the past year we’ve been in a practice of releasing the negative qualities of our inner Libra, so it’s possible for many of us, those important shifts will come into a very clear perspective. It may illuminate areas of imbalance or conflict, urging us to address any unresolved issues and find ways to restore harmony and cooperation. Emotions may run high during this time, as we confront truths and make decisions that impact our closest connections.
And of course, since Libra is also heavily associated with diplomacy and justice, this eclipse may highlight themes related to fairness, equality, and social justice on a broader scale. It may prompt us to examine our role in creating a more just and equitable society, both in our personal interactions and in the larger community. On a broad, collective level this could turn our attention ever further toward grievous injustices that make us question the underlying costs of fairness.
Let’s not forget that this opens up a two week window known as “eclipse season,” in which energies all over the place are heightened and contributing to the immense changes and transitions that will continue to unfold over the next 6 months. Be extra mindful and observant of your actions and important changes in relationships, as they will be fully part of the ebbs and flows of the Aries/Libra eclipse storylines.
Venus in Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus
We can finally call wrap on March, when sweet and adoring Venus in Pisces soothes the savage beast, Uranus in Taurus, on March 28th. I’m glad that this is the closing configuration to a month that seems absolutely submerged in the sparkling but sensitive ocean of Pisces. From this aspect emerges a pop of excitement and innovation in the realms of creativity, partnerships, and harmony.
This is a great moment for spontaneous pursuits of pleasure and connection as well as unexpected surprises, perhaps coming in the form of fresh artistic expressions. Celebrating the beauty in bucking conventions is a must with this energy, as it invites us to experiment and break free rigid norms that impede the flow of all our resources, be they spiritual, fiscal, relational, or otherwise. After a month that is sure to bring more than a few unforeseen twists, this is a lovely note to end on, especially as we break into eclipse season.
Final Thoughts
Okay folks, there you have it! The ins, outs, and all the liminal cosmic spaces between for the month of March! It’s plain to see that we’re swimming deep in the wide open waters of Pisces season, prompting us towards some massive consideration of the roles of forgiveness, surrender, and empathy in our lives. Unfortunately the free love movement that Pisces planets likes to participate in does square up with some jarring moments with Uranus, the Overlord of Chaos, but ultimately seems to be moving us in a period of time I’d like to summarize as “daring to dream differently.” Not to mention the fact that by the end of the month, we will embark on 2024’s first eclipse season, opening up a big moment for transition!
Stay tuned for the April 2024 forecast next month, where we’ll get deep into some of the biggest astrological events of the entire year! Between the (honestly gnarly) Solar Eclipse in Aries and the long awaited union of Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus, it’s sure to be an absolute roller coaster of a month and you won’t want to miss the scoop! Until next time star seekers, surrender to the flow, make good choices, and prepare for the pedal to hit the metal in April!
